Meet Your Guide

Mikki Cavaroc is an award-winning nature photographer, with a passion for all things wild. Having moved to Jackson Hole, Wyoming in 2008 following a serendipitous encounter with the soon-to-be-famous, Grizzly 399, she immediately began passionately exploring the landscapes and all they had to offer. Initially gravitating toward the larger fauna of the region, she quickly secured a full-time guiding job in 2012, earning high praise from both guests and upper management in her first season. As the years progressed, her fascination with other animals beyond the “big 5” began to sink in, gradually wading into the bird life soon after. Once bitten by the birding bug, she dove head first into the avian world, eagerly learning as much as possible about both the year-round and migratory residents of the region. She now birds as often as possible, both in free time and on hikes as well.

Despite the short hiking season in the area, Mikki makes sure to take advantage of that window by seeking out as many trails as possible in Grand Teton and Yellowstone National Parks, the Bridger-Teton National Forest, and beyond. She happily re-hikes many of her favorites, while constantly seeking out as many new trails as possible. Fortunately, the Greater Yellowstone Ecosystem has virtually endless trails to explore.

Through all of these adventures, she has her camera constantly in tow, securing a respected reputation as one of Jackson Hole’s prominent nature photographers. A self-taught photographer, she has earned praise both in international art competitions, as well as local shows. Always seeking out the next great shot, her passion for photography is fueled by her fascination with the natural world, most ideally experienced on a trail.

When not focused on birding, hiking, or photography, Mikki enjoys participating in the local theater community, geeking out on geeky movies and shows, and teaching her daughter to live life to the fullest. She came out as trans in the summer of 2025.

Mikki was one of the top 3 eBirders for 2024 and 2025!
