Jackson Hole Winter Birding

Winter in Jackson Hole, Wyoming can be a magical time of year. While many of the birds leave for the season, the ones who stick around offer wonderful surprises on the landscape! Taking advantage of shifting migration patterns in all the local wildlife, we’ll concentrate our efforts closer to town, as much of the action revolves around the lower parts of Grand Teton National Park, as well as the National Elk Refuge. Some of the birds we have a good chance of seeing are Bald Eagles, Rough-Legged Hawks, Trumpeter Swans, Buffleheads, and many more. While we may not rack up the species total we would in spring or summer, birding Jackson Hole in the winter offers its own unique surprises and unparalleled opportunities for the occasional arctic rarity as well!

Jackson Hole Winter Birding Tours are available from November-April.
